Join Spokane Riverkeeper and community members along the Spokane River to see low flows firsthand and learn why protecting the river’s future depends on protecting its flow.

Last summer, a section of the Spokane River ran dry for the first time in recorded history. This year, the river is once again facing low flows as we enter the most vulnerable part of the season. We anticipate seeing the river run dry again this year.

This gathering is an opportunity to stand together, witness current river conditions, and learn what low flows mean for the health of the Spokane River, the communities that depend on it, and the future of this important resource.

We will gather near Barker Road before marching together along the Centennial Trail into the dry reach of the Spokane River.

• 4:00 PM: Gather at Barker Road Trailhead, connect with community members, and get settled

• 4:15 PM: Welcome remarks and speakers

• 4:30 PM: March toward the dry reach

• 5:00 PM: Remarks at the dry reach, including discussion of current river conditions, why flows matter, and how the community can take action

• 5:15 PM: Photos, media opportunities, and closing remarks

Spokane Riverkeeper will share some of the challenges facing Spokane River flows, and what needs to happen to protect the river for generations to come. We will also share how community members can take action, including calling on state leaders to act now to protect river flows.
